Thinking outside the box

The nine dots puzzle is a puzzle whose task is to connect nine squarely arranged points by four straight lines without lifting the pen. Our brains automatically send us in search of a solution within the square that the dots are in, yet in order to solve this puzzle some of the lines need to be drawn outside this shape, like in the image below.

In order to think outside the box, you don’t need to make big changes, just to do things differently, for example:

• Attend a professional conference in a different country
• Visit a large manufacturing plant or factory
• Hear about other businesses and learn from them
• Be open to change
• Do not fear sharing and asking questions
• Embrace “Lifelong Learning” (LLL)
