Hitachi X-Met 8000 for Analysis of Pt, Pd & Rh in Catalytic Converters
Calibration Range – Update
An important update for the calibration range of Pd and Pt in auto catalytic converter’s mode is now available. This new calibration for the Hitachi X-Met 8000 handheld XRF, enables improved accuracy in the analysis of samples with a higher Pd and Pt content.
One of the conclusions of our article (published on 8/22), comparing the Hitachi X-Met 8000 to the Niton XL3T handhelds, was that the calibration range of the
Hitachi is too narrow and the accuracy of the results declines in higher Pd and Pt content.
This new calibration range (presented in the table below) is good news:
Old Calibration
Pd ppm 233-334
Pt ppm 697-2493
Rh ppm 51-344
New Calibration
Pd ppm 833-6740
Pt ppm 85-5700
Rh ppm 51-344
